Sweet Marjoram

NOTE: Cut individual leaves anytime or cut back entire plant to 4" before flowering. May be dried for later use.

PLANTING: Marjoram is a tender perennial grown as an annual. Plant in late spring after soil has warmed. Choose a location with full sun to part shade. Scatter seed evenly over surface and water gently. Keep evenly moist until tiny plants germinate.

Attractive and easy to grow. The leaves are used or seasoning fish, meats, soups, vinegars and jelly

Sweet Basil

NOTE: Ready to harvest in about 60 days. Cut back individual stems as blossoms begin to form. Dry quiclcly to retain bright green color or use fresh in your favorite summer dish.

PLANTING: Sow in late spring after soil is warm or indoors in a sunny window.

Very popular because of sweet aroma; also decorative in the garden. Easy to use: can be dried, frozen for later use.

Chives

NOTE: Harvest lightly in the first season so plants can develop healthy roots. Clip with scissors close to ground as needed. Use fresh or wash and freeze.

PLANTING Plant in sunny location with good garden soil. Sow in garden rows or in clumps with other flowers. Sow early Spring in cold climates or any time in mild areas. Keep evenly moist.

Purple flowers can be used to flavor vinigars or salads. Very hardy and easy to grow. Mild onion-flavored leaves for seasoning soups, salads and casseroles.

Thyme

NOTE: Harvest individual leaves as needed for fresh use. Cut back entire plant or just a few stems to 4,, above base and hang in shade to dry. May he frozen for later use.

PLANTING: Plant in full sun in a well drained garden soil. Makes a nice window plant for the kitchen. Sow anytime in mild dimates or mid-spring in cold areas.

Attractive herb: purple flowers in late spring! Seasoning for (grilled) meats, poultry, vegetables and vinegars.

Chervil

NOTE: Cut individual stems as needed. Chervil's delicate flavor does not lend itself to drying or freezing.

PLANTING: Chervil grows best during the cool season before or after summer heat. Plant in early spring or late summer for a crop in about 45 days. Maybe grown all winter in mild climates.

Essential in the French kitchen: Use Cherville's. 's delicate flavor to highlight fish, eggs and salad greens

Parsley

NOTE: Cut individual stems as needed or harvest entire plant but cutting 1, from base.

PLANTING: Plant in full sun to part shade. Likes rich moist soil. In cold climates parsley will return next spring for an early crop before it bolts to seed. Sow any time in mild climates or early spring in cold areas.
